Just realized. Quarter of a book! However, I need to not work on Sable Locks tomorrow. I need to work on Haunts (the Shadow Unit fanfic that people are waiting on), and I need to seriously think of cutting Midnight Moon back in half. (We've had two rejections now because it's too long).

It occured to me today that I haven't done this since twimbly and I were working on Midnight Moon. I haven't posted word-counts, and I think that because I haven't held myself up to public accountability, my word-count has slacked off greatly. So, I'm starting up again.

I'm currently working on House of Sable Locks, the steampunk erotica novel that grew out of the short story The Succubus. I'm on chapter six, but chapter five isn't quite finished yet. (There's a nice little scene there that isn't resolving properly. It needs to stew a little more.)

This is what I'm starting with tonight. I'll update again before I finish to see how I end the evening.

Jeff VanderMeer called The Succubus "delightfully perverse." He didn't take it for the steampunk anthology he's reading for, but he liked it. ;-) (He said it looked too much like a set-up for a longer story, which I can't argue with. Not with nearly five chapters of House of Sable Locks done.)

The idea here is to list out all the WIPs that are currently live, with the first line of each. Here goes:

-Midnight Moon - The white city of Gesh ta'Enfir exists at the heart of the world.

-Wanderer's Moon - A frosting of snow shone cold and glistening over every surface.

-Sea Prince - "Where's that blasted gun?"

-House of Sable Locks - In the parlor, there is a portrait of Madame, painted when she was a shy young miss of seventeen.

-Drum Mage - How do you know just where an avalanche began, once the destruction is over?

-Prince of Air - Nine Princes of Air there are, nine sons of the Morrigan.

-Hungry Ghost - They say that things are darkest before the dawn.
